Rabbit and Guinea Pig Boarding – Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 19 October 2026

These Terms and Conditions apply to rabbit and guinea pig boarding provided by Skye Warren Boarding (“we”, “us” or “our”). By submitting a booking request, the owner (“you” or “your”) confirms that they have read and agreed to these Terms and Conditions and the linked Cancellation and Refund Policy.

Please read these terms before submitting your booking request. If you have any questions, please contact us before agreeing.

1. Booking Requests and Confirmation

1.1. All bookings begin as a booking request and are subject to our review and acceptance.

1.2. Submitting a booking request does not, by itself, secure your dates. We will provide payment details and the deposit deadline once the request has been reviewed.

1.3. A deposit of 50% of the quoted boarding price is required to secure the booking. The deposit must be received within 7 calendar days of the booking request, unless an alternative deadline has been expressly agreed with us in writing.

1.4. Your booking will be confirmed, and your dates secured, once we have accepted the booking and received the required deposit. If the deposit is not received by the deadline, we may release the requested dates after giving reasonable notice where practicable.

1.5. The remaining balance is due 7 days before the agreed arrival date. Your booking details will show the total price, deposit amount, outstanding balance and payment due dates.

1.6. If the balance is not received by the due date, we will contact you to request payment. If payment remains outstanding, we may cancel the booking in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and the Cancellation and Refund Policy.

1.7. Payments must be made using the payment method and details provided by us. Our customer portal provides payment information; it does not itself take online card payments unless we explicitly introduce and confirm that facility.

2. Prices and Boarding Arrangements

2.1. The price for your booking will be based on the dates, accommodation, number and type of animals, and any extras agreed at the time of booking.

2.2. Boarding is charged per day, not per night. The quote provided for your booking will set out the applicable rates and total cost. Any additional-animal charges and extras will be shown before your booking is confirmed.

2.3. Rabbits and guinea pigs are not housed together. Accommodation is allocated according to species, availability, suitability and the number of animals booked.

2.4. Any changes to dates, animal numbers, accommodation or extras must be requested in advance and are subject to availability. Changes may affect the price and will not be confirmed until agreed by both parties.

2.5. Please check your booking confirmation and contact us promptly if any details are incorrect.

3. Owner Responsibilities and Accurate Information

3.1. You must provide accurate and complete information about each animal, including its species, age where known, health, temperament, diet, usual routine, medication and any special care requirements.

3.2. You must tell us before arrival about any known illness, injury, behavioural concern, parasite issue, recent veterinary treatment or other matter that may affect the animal’s care or the safety of animals in our care.

3.3. You must provide sufficient food and any necessary care instructions, unless these items have been agreed as an extra or otherwise confirmed by us.

3.4. You must provide current contact details and an emergency contact who can be reached during the boarding period. You must tell us promptly if your contact details change.

3.5. You must ensure that you have the right to place the animal in our care and that any other person with legal responsibility for the animal has authorised the booking.

4. Vaccination and Health Requirements

Rabbits

4.1. All rabbits boarding at Skye Warren Boarding must have a current vaccination with Nobivac Myxo-RHD PLUS, providing protection against myxomatosis, rabbit haemorrhagic disease type 1 (RHD1) and rabbit haemorrhagic disease type 2 (RHD2).

4.2. The vaccination must have been administered at least 21 days before the rabbit’s boarding start date. Owners must ensure that the vaccination remains valid for the entire boarding period.

4.3. Proof of vaccination must be provided before arrival. This may be uploaded through your customer account or sent to Skye Warren Boarding for uploading to your booking record. It is your responsibility to ensure that acceptable proof has been received.

4.4. Rabbits will not normally be accepted for boarding if the required vaccination is not current, the 21-day period has not elapsed, or satisfactory proof has not been provided. Please contact us before arrival if you have any concerns about meeting these requirements.

Guinea Pigs

4.5. Skye Warren Boarding does not currently require vaccination records for guinea pigs.

Future Vaccination Changes

4.6. We keep our animal health and vaccination requirements under review. If additional vaccination requirements are introduced, including requirements relating to emerging rabbit haemorrhagic disease strains or new vaccines, we will update our published policy and advise affected customers of any changes relevant to their booking. Any change to an existing confirmed booking will be handled fairly and in accordance with applicable law.

Health Concerns

4.7. Owners must disclose any known illness, injury, parasite concerns, medication or special care needs before boarding. We may refuse admission where there is a reasonable concern about the animal’s welfare or the safety of animals in our care. Where practicable, we will discuss concerns with the owner before making a decision.

5. Care, Medication and Veterinary Treatment

5.1. We will take reasonable care of animals entrusted to us and follow the care instructions agreed with you, subject to their welfare and safety.

5.2. We will only agree to administer medication or provide specialist care where we consider that we can do so safely and appropriately. You must supply medication in its original packaging, with clear instructions and any necessary equipment.

5.3. If an animal becomes ill or injured, we will make reasonable efforts to contact you or your nominated emergency contact and, where appropriate, seek veterinary advice or treatment.

5.4. If urgent treatment is reasonably required and we cannot reach you or your emergency contact in time, we may arrange veterinary attention where reasonably necessary to protect the animal’s welfare.

5.5. You are responsible for reasonable veterinary fees and associated costs incurred for your animal’s treatment, unless those costs result from our breach of contract, negligence or other legal responsibility. Where practicable, we will discuss anticipated costs with you before non-urgent treatment.

5.6. We cannot guarantee that an animal will remain free from illness, injury or stress during boarding. However, this does not exclude or limit our responsibility where we have failed to take reasonable care or where the law makes us responsible.

6. Arrival, Collection and Late Collection

6.1. Arrival and collection times must be agreed in advance. Our usual time windows are 9:00–10:00 am or 4:00–8:00 pm, subject to availability and confirmation.

6.2. Requests outside these windows must be discussed in advance, normally with at least 48 hours’ notice, and are subject to agreement.

6.3. Please arrive at the agreed time and contact us as soon as possible if you expect to be late.

6.4. If you collect your animal later than agreed, additional boarding charges may apply where we have to provide extra care or retain the accommodation. We will explain any applicable charge in advance where practicable.

6.5. If you cannot collect your animal on the agreed date, you must contact us as soon as possible. Any extension is subject to availability and may incur additional charges, which we will confirm with you.

6.6. If an animal is not collected and we cannot contact you or your emergency contact, we will take reasonable steps to safeguard the animal and seek appropriate advice. We will not treat an uncollected animal as abandoned without taking reasonable steps to contact you and considering the animal’s welfare and any applicable legal requirements.

7. Deposits, Cancellations and Refunds

7.1. A deposit of 50% of the quoted boarding price is required to secure a booking. The deposit helps us reserve accommodation and plan care for your animal.

7.2. If you need to cancel, you must notify us in writing using the contact details provided in your booking confirmation. Your cancellation will take effect when we receive your written notice.

7.3. We understand that plans can change. If you cancel, the amount we retain or refund will be assessed in accordance with the notice given, the costs and losses reasonably incurred, the likelihood of rebooking the dates, and any steps we can reasonably take to reduce our loss.

7.4. The following guidelines will normally apply:

  • More than 7 days before arrival: The deposit may be retained to cover reasonable losses arising from the cancellation. If the dates are rebooked or our actual loss is lower, we will take that into account when calculating any refund.

  • 7 days or less before arrival: Cancellation may result in some or all of the booking price being retained where justified by the reasonable, direct loss caused by the cancellation. We will take into account any costs avoided and any replacement booking for the same dates.

  • After the boarding period has started: Charges may reflect the services already provided and the reasonable loss for the remaining reserved period, taking account of any replacement booking or costs avoided.

7.5. These are guidelines, not an automatic penalty. We will not retain payments or charge cancellation fees in excess of what is fair and legally recoverable in the circumstances.

7.6. If you cancel because an animal has died, been rehomed, become unwell or your circumstances have changed, please contact us as soon as possible. We will consider the circumstances and apply a fair assessment rather than automatically treating every such cancellation identically.

7.7. If we have to cancel a confirmed booking and you are not responsible for the reason, we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible and refund any prepayments for boarding that we will not provide, unless you agree to an alternative arrangement. This does not limit any other rights you may have under the law.

7.8. Any refund due will normally be made by bank transfer in pounds sterling (GBP), using payment details agreed with you. We will confirm the amount and process the refund within a reasonable period.

7.9. The Cancellation and Refund Policy forms part of these Terms and Conditions. If there is any inconsistency, we will interpret the documents in a way that is clear and fair to both parties and consistent with applicable law.

8. Extras and Supplies

8.1. Any extras, including pre-booked pellets or emergency pellets, must be agreed as part of the booking or requested during the stay, subject to availability.

8.2. Prices for extras will be provided before you are charged. We will not add optional extras to your booking without your agreement.

8.3. If you supply food, medication or other items, please label them clearly and provide instructions where necessary.

9. Safety and Suitability

9.1. We may refuse admission or end a boarding arrangement if an animal’s needs cannot safely be met, if material information was withheld, or if there is a genuine and significant risk to the animal, other animals or people.

9.2. Where the issue can reasonably be resolved, we will discuss it with you first. If boarding cannot proceed or must end early, we will consider the circumstances, the care already provided, any reasonable costs incurred and any applicable refund fairly.

9.3. You must not ask us to provide care that we have told you we cannot safely or reasonably provide.

10. Emergencies and Circumstances Beyond Our Control

10.1. If circumstances outside our reasonable control affect a booking or our ability to provide boarding, we will contact you as soon as reasonably practicable and discuss suitable options.

10.2. We will take reasonable steps to protect animals in our care and minimise disruption. Any cancellation, alternative arrangements or refund will be dealt with fairly in light of the circumstances and applicable law.

11. Responsibility and Liability

11.1. We will exercise reasonable care and skill in providing boarding services.

11.2. You remain responsible for providing accurate information about your animal and for telling us about relevant health, behavioural or care needs.

11.3. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights.

11.4. Where damage or loss is alleged to have been caused by an animal, we will consider the facts and the responsibilities of each party. You will not automatically be held liable for every incident involving your animal.

12. Privacy and Personal Information

12.1. We use personal information to manage enquiries and bookings, communicate with you, care for your animal, maintain relevant records and process payments.

12.2. Information about how we collect, use, retain and protect personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.

12.3. Please ensure that emergency contact details and other information you provide are accurate and that you have permission to share another person’s contact details with us.

13. Complaints and Resolving Concerns

13.1. If you have a concern about the service, please contact us promptly with details of the issue so that we have a reasonable opportunity to investigate and respond.

13.2. We will aim to deal with complaints fairly and constructively. This section does not restrict your legal rights or your ability to seek independent advice.

14. Changes to These Terms and Conditions

14.1. The version of these Terms and Conditions accepted for a booking will apply to that booking, unless we both agree to a change or a change is required by law.

14.2. We may update these Terms and Conditions for future bookings. The current version will be made available before customers submit a booking request.

15. Governing Law

15.1. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the law of Scotland, and disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts, subject to any mandatory rights or protections that apply to you.

16. Contact

For booking questions, cancellations, changes or complaints, please use the contact details published on the Skye Warren Boarding website or included in your booking confirmation.

By submitting a booking request, you confirm that you have had the opportunity to read these Terms and Conditions and the Cancellation and Refund Policy before agreeing to them.
